“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.”
Think back on your life. When you slowly crept up to 18 years of age, decisions had to be made. What were you going to do next? Would you go to college? Maybe go into a skilled trade? Brush the cobwebs aside and try to remember, what was the deciding factor for your path? Did you ask yourself, what job would provide the most income? What industry would be the most stable? Most people think of these questions first. What is the “smart” decision? I tend to be a logical thinker, a planner, methodical in my process. None of that occurred when I changed majors to Fine Arts with no clue what I was going to do with this degree after I graduated college.
If we look at the formula that society has for us, a good paying job with stability, I should not be where I am currently. I didn’t plot out my career in carefully controlled steps. I haphazardly went about working and living my life but I listened to God and followed his path. I’m not painting for a living but I create. I create experiences. I create products, features, programs and even businesses.
Look at your life. Are you working for man or are you working for God? If there is dissatisfaction in your life, the root cause may surprise you. Bitterness and envy could be storing up inside of you at doing what man expected and ignoring what God has requested. Colossians 3:23 reminds us is that we were meant to work for HIM.
How do you go about changing the mindset of a lifetime? Did you know users and customers have specific patterns and habits on how they do things, either from previous experiences or having been taught? What I’m asking you to do is to “unlearn” everything you’ve been taught about “work”. To forget about the money, forget about the prestige, forget about stability. There is a “mind shift” necessary for people to change. It's a frightening yet heady prospect. You’re going into the unknown but the excitement of making that change is invigorating.
CFG’s program is designed to increase your chances of success in every way. You have an accountability partner. They are taking this journey with you, they understand how you feel but most importantly they will help you stay on track. Every CFG class has a mentor. Mentors will encourage you when you need it, give you advice but also keep you on the path. The program brings in experts from every field to teach and inform you. It is designed for you to take as long or as little as you need. You determine when you’re finished. Each of the three phases will teach you to change your habits permanently and create a different YOU at the end.
Take a moment and determine, are you working for man or are you working for God?
